Assists the Maintenance Coordinator in the daily operation of the maintenance department. Has the necessary trade skills and ability to complete jobs not hired out to contractors and teach these skills to other maintenance workers when necessary. This includes light demolition, light carpentry, plumbing and minor electrical work. For jobs not done in-house will help complete the bidding process, oversee the work awarded to contractors, and help maintain ongoing project status reports. When assigned, provides technical assistance throughout the agency on maintenance procedures and issues for department workers and contractors.
Experience and skills in all aspects of renovations, construction and repairs. Basic computer literacy required. Preferred applicants will have experience in the development of bidding documents, supervision of bidding process, procurement of supplies and equipment, oversight and management of renovations and construction. Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License. Must meet LAI’s Vehicle Operator Requirements
Education/Experience: Two year applicable degree with 5 years maintenance experience including a minimum of 1 year supervision; or High School Diploma with 10 years’ experience with 1 year supervision or an acceptable combination of education, experience and supervision of the above qualifications.
