Job Responsibilities

Please note-This is for anticipated openings throughout the academic year.

Responsible for prevention, evaluation, treatment, management, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses associated with athletes involved in intercollegiate athletics.

  • Implement rehabilitation and treatment programs for intercollegiate athletes utilizing exercise rehabilitation and modalities (ice, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, massage). Including appropriate documentation.
  • Evaluate, assess, and treat injuries sustained to intercollegiate athletes.  Including appropriate documentation.
  • Facilitate athlete referrals for care through physicians, surgeons, therapists, and specialists (including proper insurance notification and directional assistance).
  • Prep athletes for competition or practice through taping, bandaging, stretching, bracing, or other forms of injury risk management.
  • Implementation and facilitation of athletics drug and alcohol testing program.  Including athlete notification, urine sample collection, documentation, and sample shipment for analysis.  
  • Collect, compile, and facilitate athlete physical participation status forms.  Including orthopedic assessment to evaluate for risk management.
  • Provide coverage at competitions and practices for intercollegiate athletes (sometimes for other competing institutions) to manage injury recognition, evaluation, assessment, and care. Including travel for away competitions and/or practices.
  • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree – Athletic Training degree (may also be obtained through a master’s degree program)
BOC certification in Athletic Training
NYS Licensure
CPR/AED/First Aid
2-3 years working in athletic training
NATA certified
