This individual must be willing to flex their creative muscles, inspiring out-of-the-box thinking by engaging Student Affairs staff in the development and execution of integrated marketing
strategies that promote the Division of Student Affairs. In addition to supporting integrated marketing and communication plans for business units, this role has responsibility for social media management for RIT student life channels and manages a team of student staff that support the creation of content across platforms. Preference will be given to candidates who have social media experience or interest and ability to develop this skillset.
The individual will be a strategic planner, an excellent writer, and comfortable facing customers. As the marketing and communications specialist, you will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications for Student Affairs and be a part of a team who inspire, challenge, and support one another. Required Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (communications, marketing, or related field)
- 2-5 years of experience in a communications/multimedia/marketing writing-related position
Skills:
- Ability to translate business goals into actionable marketing strategies
- Exceptional written communication skills, including writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and the ability to research, analyze and write content for both printed publications and web-based communications
- Ability to work in leadership, consultative, and collaborative roles with a variety of individuals (staff, faculty, and students), as well as departments and committees across disciplines
- Project management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities
- Team-oriented, flexible, and customer-service orientation
- Keen attention to detail
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural audiences.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and planning skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in marketing and communications in Higher Education.
- Experience in social media strategy and campaign development and assessment.
- Experience in website management including basic knowledge of the Drupal platform.
- Experience with website analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
- Experience using technology and systems to support administrative, operation, and program functions.
- Conversational ASL skills
- Knowledge of Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), or willingness to learn.
