This is an entry level food service position involving performance of simple manual and heavy laboring tasks in connection with the operation of Central Kitchen, Middle and High Schools, and may assist Food Service truck drivers with daily deliveries.   The employee works under direct supervision from, and reports directly to, a higher level employee. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (All need not be performed in a given position.  Other activities may be performed although not listed.)

Carries supplies to and from storeroom;

Washes pots and pans;

Operates kitchen appliances and equipment;

Receives early deliveries and puts milk in lowerators;

Helps cook with heavy lifting;

Keeps freezer and refrigerators in order;

Sweeps and mops floors in kitchen, store room; walk in freezer and refrigerator;

Cleans behind serving counter of faculty and student lunchrooms.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Some knowledge of the proper methods of the care of kitchen appliances; ability to lift heavy weights; willingness to perform routine, recurring manual task; thoroughness; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
