Job Description

Seeking an adult education instructor to teach an Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency class at a community organization in a downtown Rochester location, 2 days per week with morning and afternoon hours.

TYPICAL DUTIES: 

  1. Provide differentiated instruction for Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency program
  2. Plan and execute lessons in 5 content areas: Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies to students at a variety of readiness levels
  3. Conduct new student intake, including TABE 11/12 assessments
  4. Evaluate student learning through formal and informal assessment practices
  5. Report and document student attendance and academic progress
  6. Work with support staff in meeting the instructional and workforce expectations for each adult student enrolled the program and to remain within the standards of the New York State Education Department
  7. Maintains all safety standards as mandated by the BOCES 2 organization
  8. Other duties as determined by the Director of BOCES 2 CWD
  9. Report directly to the Director of BOCES 2 CWD

Job Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in education OR commensurate experience in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience
  • Excellent instructional and interpersonal skills
  • NYS K-12 or ability to acquire Adult Education Certification
  • Experience working with adult students preferred
