Summary and Purpose of Position:

Monroe Community College seeks an experienced recruitment and admissions professional to serve as the Associate Director of Admissions. The Associate Director of Admissions is administratively responsible to the Director of Admissions and is responsible for the coordination and implementation of a comprehensive admissions recruitment program for the College. The Associate Director will provide leadership and management for admissions advisors, the CRM Coordinator, and support staff. The Associate Director must possess a collaborative, enthusiast, and positive approach to meeting and exceeding enrollment goals.

Primary Functions:

Recruitment Leadership

  • Assists with the development and leads the implementation of a comprehensive student recruitment program to achieve the enrollment goals of the College, including new high school graduates and non-traditional students, readmit, international, and transfer students.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of student recruitment efforts throughout New York State. Regional efforts include high schools, community agencies, businesses, city, county visits/college fairs, and SUNY events.
  • Provides leadership and oversight to admissions recruiters/advisors, ensuring that each has a plan to achieve their enrollment goals.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing a territory management plan for each advisor, ensuring scheduling of recruitment travel for admissions staff.
  • Provides guidance and training to new staff on recruitment best practices.
  • Participates in recruitment travel, including high schools, instant decision days, community agencies, businesses, college fairs, and other off-campus recruitment programs.
  • Supports the development of new recruitment events, which are aligned with departmental goals and keeping up with national best practices.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates annual strategy to reach targeted student populations for signature on-campus visit programs and events.
  • Responsible for the collaboration with College Now, with a goal of increasing enrollment to matriculation.
  • Develops and monitors reports to enhance recruitment strategies and increase student enrollment, and creates on-demand reports for leadership.
  • Provides annual reports on each recruitment territory.
  • Evening, weekend, and overnight travel for recruitment will be required,

CRM Leadership/Marketing Liaison

  • Oversees technology and software systems, including the Admissions CRM, which support the effective/efficient management of the College’s initiatives in the areas of recruitment and application processing.
  • Provides leadership and day-to-day oversight for the Admissions CRM Coordinator.
  • Develops and manages systems to track and report recruitment efforts.
  • Collaborates with the marketing team to develop and implement effective and responsive communication to prospective students, applicants, and enrolled students.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and various departments across the College to develop and implement recruitment and communication strategies to increase student enrollment.
  • Manages and coordinates internal/external communication and recruitment events presentations, webinars, webcasts, fairs, chats, counselor and community newsletters, and representation at on- and off-campus events.

Secondary Functions:

  • Shares duties consistent with the admissions counselor position, including interviewing prospective students and offering pre-admissions counseling in areas including financial aid, career planning, and transfer.
  • Participates in conferences and meetings related to developing innovative recruitment practices that support MCC reaching enrollment goals.
  • Participates in college committees that impact enrollment.
  • Develops and maintains admissions policies and practices consistent with the enrollment management model.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management.
  • Assumes other related assignments as determined by the Director of Admission.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Earned master’s degree in higher education, business, communication, or related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution.
  • Three years of college recruitment/admissions experience.
  • Demonstrated evidence of ability to develop and execute innovative recruitment strategies utilizing data to help develop and execute plans.
  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in using sales strategies within a recruitment plan to meet enrollment goals.
  • Demonstrated commitment and success to recruiting students from diverse and traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Ability to build cooperative working relationships with the College community, high school counselors and administrators, students, parents, and the public.
  • Experience using student information systems and CRM.
  • Supervisory experience for both professional and support staff.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to community college philosophy.
  • Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus.  Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.
  • Strong technical/computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Banner system.
  • Experience with SLATE.
  • Community college experience.
